(Myrmecophaga tridactyla) Commonly called giant anteater or yurumí by Waorani communities, it is the largest species of anteater and the only representative of the genus Myrmecophaga. It lives alone or in pairs, moving continuously and over long stretches with its muzzle directed towards the ground in search of insects.
